SPEECH:
"Today, our new student, Arisato Minato, will give his introductory speech. The rest of you already did it, but I still expect you to pay attention," The teacher said, more or less moving Minato to the front of the class whether or not he wanted to go. His expression was blank, but his gray eyes roved slowly over the students. Most of them were trying to look like they were paying attention, but not, and a couple really were paying attention. He looked at the teacher, and she gestured to him expectantly. Speech? Him? Most people only heard him say a few words every now and again to answer a question in class. Minato shrugged, hands in his pockets, and started simply.
"I'm Minato Arisato. I used to live here..." He paused. That would have been his whole speech if the teacher hadn't cleared her throat loudly. His expression didn't show it much more than an imperceptible twist of his eyebrows, but he was nervous. What if this was a class full of idiots? He really hoped it wasn't. ".... I... don't like to talk much..." He said, removing his right hand from his pocket and rubbing the back of his head. He offered a shrug to the teacher, indicating there wasn't much more that he had. She gestured impatiently at her grade book. "... and I like music... That's it..."
The teacher sighed and shooed Minato back to his seat. His gaze wandered out the window and his eyebrows drifted back down that fraction of a centimeter. Well, no one had commented on it, so that was fine with him. Everything was so different around here now; he hadn't been here for ten years, and he hardly recognized any of the streets. His mind wandered from there, though he was still semi-paying attention to the lecture the teacher had started in to. It was going to be a long, strange year, something inside said. And he was inclined to agree.
