Alright, I'll try to make this as simple as possible, as to avoid making your brains explode. First off, I'd say all characters should start at Level 1, with 30 HP, 30 SP, 5 STR, 5 MAG, 3 DEF, and 5 SPR. Every level, HP and SP will both increase by either 5 or 10 (Up to Igor) Then the rest of the stats will increase anywhere from 1 to 4 points. How that will be chosen is simple, you have a 50% chance of getting a 1, a 25% of getting a 2, 15% chance of getting a 3, and a 10% Chance of getting a 4.
(We can make this fancy later, if necessary)
[atrb=border,1,true]Zetsumei | Level: | 1 | HP: | 30 | SP | 30 | STRENGTH: | 5 | MAGIC: | 5 | DEFENSE: | 3 | SPIRIT: | 5 |
[atrb=border,1,true]Ko Sendo | Level: | 1 | HP: | 50 | SP | 50 | STRENGTH: | 7 | MAGIC: | 7 | DEFENSE: | 3 | SPIRIT: | 3 |
The above are the stats for Ko Sendo and Zetsumei, notice that they have very different Stats, as will most Persona. Each Persona Arcana will have different base stats, depending on what each one focus's on. You should be able to get the gist of what each Persona will focus towards based on the Arcana listings description, though they'll get more specific later.
Now then, lets go ahead and make them gain a level, shall we? To do this, we'll go to www.random.org , which is auto set to randomize a number between 1 and 100. All we need to do is press the button and decide if the number is between 1-50, 51-75, 76-90, or 91-100. This will allow us to choose how much each stat gets boosted, though HP and SP always increase by 10.
The numbers I got were 76, 62, 24, 72, 43, 90, 21, and 30, in that order. This means, Zetsumei's Strength increased by 3, his Magic increased by 2, his Defense increased by 1, and his Spirit increased by 2.
[atrb=border,1,true]Zetsumei | Level: | 2 | HP: | 40 | SP | 40 | STRENGTH: | 8 | MAGIC: | 7 | DEFENSE: | 4 | SPIRIT: | 7 |
Ko Sendo, however, increased his Strength by 1, His Magic by 3, and his Defense and Spirit by 1.
[atrb=border,1,true]Ko Sendo | Level: | 2 | HP: | 60 | SP | 60 | STRENGTH: | 8 | MAGIC: | 10 | DEFENSE: | 4 | SPIRIT: | 4 |
Neat, huh? Please note, All Stat Increases will be done by a staff member, so as to avoid cheating.
Anyway, what good are stats without a damage calculation system, right? I'll make it relatively simple, just cause it saves effort for staff members. In battle, your basic skill and all physical skills will use your STRENGTH stat, while Offensive Magic skills and Magic Assault Items will use your MAGIC stat. Healing skills use your SPIRIT stat, there is no separation between DEFENSE and SPECIAL DEFENSE, unless specifically requested by Igor, that's how it will be.
So, the calculation system will work like this. STRENGTH + SKILL POWER - DEFENSE = Damage. Basic adding and subtraction, can't get any easier than that, right? As such, it is possible to do 0 damage, but impossible to get negative damage, in other words heal from an attack. All Negative numbers will be treated as 0. Alright then, lets put Ko Sendo up against a Shadow, shall we?
Here are there Stats:
[atrb=border,1,true]Ko Sendo | Level: | 1 | HP: | 50 | SP | 50 | STRENGTH: | 7 | MAGIC: | 7 | DEFENSE: | 3 | SPIRIT: | 3 |
[atrb=border,1,true]MAG Shadow | Level: | 1 | HP: | 50 | SP | 50 | STRENGTH: | 3 | MAGIC: | 9 | DEFENSE: | 3 | SPIRIT: | 6 |
Alright, now, lets say that Ko Sendo uses Mudo on the MAG Shadow. Mudo has a base power of 15, plus a 1.5 boost, resulting in a power of 23 (always round up). Mudo is a magic skill, so we'll use Ko Sendo's MAGIC stat. 23(Skill Power)+7(Magic Stat)-3(Opponents Defense)=27 Damage. So, the MAG Shadow's health will drop from 50 to 23.
Now, the Healing formula works in much the same way, except there's no resistance. In other words, lets say the Shadow above used Dia. Dia has a power of 15, and the Magician Arcana doesn't get a bonus for healing skills, so it stays 15.
15(Skill Power)+6(Spirit Stat)=21 Health restored. Now, the MAG Shadows health will increase from 23 back up to 44. 23+21=44, if you didn't get why.
Now, I bet you're questioning what those "Magic Assault Items" are. Magic Assault Items are stones imbued with elemental powers, creating the same skills that Persona use, I'll put up a list below.
Agi Stone Agilao Stone Agidyne Stone Ragnarok Stone
Bufu Stone Bufula Stone Bufudyne Stone Niflheim Stone
Zio Stone Zionga Stone Ziodyne Stone Thunder Reign Stone
Garu Stone Garuda Stone Garudyne Stone Panta Rhei Stone
These are all Single Enemy, Single Use Items that have a power equal to that of the skill sharing the same names. They are, however, quite expensive. Agi, Bufu, Garu, and Zio may all be bought in the Mall for a price to be set up Igor. The next set will be sold at the top of the first block Thebel, the next at Arqa, and so on, each getting more expensive. Other items may be sold at these locations as well, though what will be up to Igor.
If there's anything I've forgotten about please don't hesitate to mention it, also, the numbers I used for base stats were pretty much random , so they can be changed if necessary. If you decide you like this, I'll set up a base stat total, which will then be divided accordingly among the major and minor skills of each Arcana. If you think of anything else math or stat related that might seem interesting, mention it to me and I may be able to come up with something that works.
Hope you liked it,
Zetsumei Sabishii
[PS: I'm also willing to write out a list of all Canon skills and their Base Power Levels, as well as a skill learning system to go with what level each skill may be learned, if not obtained via Skill Card.]
